Most people’s hair only grows about a half an inch every month, or six inches per year. This will only translate to length, assuming that the hair strands do not break or get damaged in any way. Tip#1: Handle Your Hair Gently



Hair is very fragile, as it is made up of dead cells. In order for it to retain length as it grows, you will need to engage in proper care of your hair. You can do this by keeping chemical treatment such as permanent straightening or curling, and dying, to a minimum. You should also be mindful of the amount of heat you use on your hair. Heat can cause irreversible damage to the hair follicles.

Therefore, a high protein diet is good for you hair, so eating things like eggs, lean meats and yogurt will improve your hair health. You should also be sure to drink plenty of water, so that your body can moisturize you hair follicles from the inside out. Hair that is properly moisturized will be less vulnerable to damage and breakage.



Tip# 4: Trim Your Hair Regularly



Trimming your hair would seem like the one thing that you should not do when you are trying to get your hair to grow, but actually is necessary for your hair to maintain health and length. When you hair has damage at the ends of the follicles, that damage will continue to travel all the way up through the follicle to the root and interfere with any newly growing hair. In order to avoid this, you should make sure to keep damaged ends trimmed away.



Tip# 5: Use the Right Products



In order to keep your hair healthy, you may also have to change the kinds of products that you use in your hair, depending on its needs. For example, if your hair is lacking moisture, you can remedy this by using deep conditioning treatments every other week. There are wide varieties that you can choose from which will have the ingredients you need to make your hair it’s healthiest. You can also use protein treatment if you hair is thin and the shafts are weak.



If you must use direct heat on your hair, always be sure to use a good heat protectant spray beforehand and do not be afraid to dabble in the many hair growth supplements that are on the market.
